4-17-25   THOUGHTS

We know enough of  David’s life to know he had troubles.  Often his were real war troubles with people seeking his very life.  Ps 51 is a prayer about sin of his own doing.  We can identify with the reading below in many ways.  Trouble is trouble, our “spirits are overwhelmed within us...” in many ways.  God cares for our souls!  God is our refuge, our portion in the land of the living.  God is our deliverer to be thanked!  God will deal bountifully with us!  Even in death, we find victory!  Contemplate the power of  Php 1:20-21  “according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will not be put to shame in anything, but that with all boldness, Christ will even now, as always, be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. 21  For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

Ps 142:1-7    I cry aloud with my voice to the LORD; I make supplication with my voice to the LORD.  2  I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare my trouble before Him. 3  When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, You knew my path. In the way where I walk  They have hidden a trap for me. 4  Look to the right and see; For there is no one who regards me; There is no escape for me; No one cares for my soul.  5  I cried out to You, O LORD; I said, "You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living. 6  "Give heed to my cry, For I am brought very low; Deliver me from my persecutors, For they are too strong for me. 7  "Bring my soul out of prison, So that I may give thanks to Your name; The righteous will surround me,  For You will deal bountifully with me."

My Prayer:
Father God, life would overwhelm us if it were not for You.  You have dealt so bountifully with us.  We are Your saved children with the promise of eternal hope.  You, O God, are our unchanging  Rock. Thank You for the Christ, who overcomes the world.  Hear our prayers, O Lord, in time of need.  We praise You for the sense You have given our eternity in Christ Jesus.
In the name of our Lord,    Amen.
